About Us

Hi, I'm Nadia and thanks for dropping by my start up business venture. I am a mum to an ambitious five year old girl and she is the inspiration behind Natural Joyful Life, which all started from my humble beginnings.

About a life time ago, I studied fashion design in Melbourne, Victoria and graduated with a Diploma in Textiles, Clothing and Footwear, before I received my Bachelors of Architecture from Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia.

During this time I dabbled in business and interior design units at university and learnt about the environmental impacts of our actions and how our bodies are impacted by what we surround ourselves with, including clothing, materials, fragrances, food and even people (that’s for another post). From leaching of polyester (made from petroleum), PFSA (forever chemicals), BPA and other harmful chemicals that affect developing children, our hormones, organs and overall health.

Preloved Natural Clothing Boutique and Project ReVival were born out of the love of fashion, health and sustainability.

Australians are among the world's biggest consumers of textiles per capita, purchasing an average of 56 new clothing items per year, surpassing the US (53 items) and the UK (33 items).

6,000 kgs of fashion waste is created every 10 minutes in Australia. Fast fashion plays a big role and most of our unwanted clothes end up in landfill. The rapid production and overconsumption of textiles, particularly fast fashion, contribute significantly to the problem. Over 200,000 tonnes of clothing are discarded into Australian landfills annually, equivalent to almost four Sydney Harbour Bridges in weight.

The environmental impact of this consumption is stark, with a large amount of clothing ending up in landfills and contributing to resource depletion and pollution. A significant portion of Australia's textile waste is exported, often ending up in landfills or waterways overseas.

To address this issue, policies are being proposed to create a circular economy for textiles, including banning the export of textile waste, investing in domestic manufacturing and recycling, and supporting community op shops and recycling initiatives.

Preloved Natural Clothing Boutique and Project ReVival’s mission is to stop the production of plastic fast fashion by bringing awareness to the environmental and health impacts of these unsustainable clothes. By selling high quality preloved linen, organic cotton, cotton, hemp, silk and wool, every customer walks away knowing that they have made a single drop in the mighty ocean of a sustainable textiles waste initiative that stops the current plastic fast fashion environmental catastrophe.
